The Brief History of PCDP

As early as the 1990s, Monica Tengco-Mendez worked with children with Autism, ADHD, learning difficulties and other challenging behaviors by providing them home-based therapy programs using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), specifically the so called Lovaas Method. These designed programs were aimed to ensure that the students will be able to cope and adapt in their natural environment in order to become productive members of society.

In 2003, Monica (or Teacher Mon, as she is often called), with a group of other therapists, put up therapy centers in Pasig City and Sta. Rosa City. In 2008, both centers underwent major changes, making its methods updated and more organized, with the help of new professional individuals joining the team.  The changes saw the closure of the two centers to give birth to a new one.

In June 25, 2008, Partners in Child Development and Progress, Inc. (PCDP) was born—a bigger center, more organized and better equipped in handling the growing demands of its clients.  It initially started with centers located in major cities in Manila and Laguna. Through the years, PCDP continued to develop and innovate by sending its Senior Therapists to Hong Kong and Singapore for training under Dr. James W. Partington, Ph.D., BCBA-D, a known leader and expert in the use of Applied Behavior Analysis particularly Verbal Behavior.  This was made possible because of PCDP’s international affiliation with Autism Recovery Network, Hong Kong and Autism Recovery Network, Singapore, Pte. Ltd.  The result of this venture is a complete overhaul of PCDP’s intervention programs.

At present, PCDP operates four fully functional centres located in Barangay Kapitolyo in Pasig City, Waltermart Shopping Center Balibago and Paseo de Santa Rosa in Santa Rosa City, Laguna and in San Fernando, Pampanga.  It also has linkages with various developmental pediatricians, schools, universities and professional organizations.

PCDP continues to evolve and develop in its efforts to become attuned to the changing times by perennially training and developing highly competent human resource to meet the challenging needs of students under its care.
